An As-Yet-Undisputed Benevolent Dictator For Life of Cascadia, North America — and a non-fungible human.
I am a software developer, systems administrator, and network operator rooted in the vibrant landscape of Western Washington, Cascadia. My professional life has been dedicated to building, maintaining, and understanding complex, resilient systems. From robust digital networks to intricate software protocols, my work has always centered on ensuring functionality, integrity, and transparency.
Beyond the code, I am deeply engaged with the foundational "protocols" of our society. My public persona, "An As-Yet-Undisputed Benevolent Dictator For Life of Cascadia, North America," is a verifiable (thanks, Facebook blue dot!) and perhaps humorous, yet deeply serious, reflection of a core belief: that effective, accountable stewardship of our civic systems is not just an ideal, but a necessity. This title is a nod to distributed, competent, and principled local leadership – a model for how a healthy 'civic network' should truly operate.
My professional lens gives me a unique vantage point on the current state of our democracy. The erosion of verifiable facts, the weaponization of disinformation, and the systemic attacks on our institutions feel strikingly similar to critical vulnerabilities in a compromised network. When foundational protocols are disregarded, the entire system becomes unstable, unreliable, and ultimately, vulnerable to malicious actors. The lack of a robust, principled center in our political landscape has left too many citizens feeling politically homeless, caught between extremes while the system itself degrades.
It's this profound concern that has led me to actively seek and build solutions. I find immense inspiration in efforts like the Cascade Party of Washington. As a Cascadia local, seeing a genuine centrist party building practical political alternatives right here, right when it's needed most, is a powerful affirmation. It demonstrates how dedicated individuals can proactively "patch" vulnerabilities and enhance systemic resilience at a regional level.
This regional work is critical, but the challenge extends nationally. Prompted by this urgent need for systemic repair, I am currently establishing **"The Union"**.
Mission: To restore and defend the promise of the American republic by uniting citizens committed to truth, liberty, and justice for all.
We envision a "Federated Republic" model: a national, non-partisan pro-democracy coalition built upon a network of autonomous local "Committees of Correspondence." These local "nodes" will coordinate through a national "Continental Congress," embodying a distributed, resilient civic network.
The Union will engage in both strategic nonviolence to resist authoritarian tendencies and constructive, community-building efforts to rebuild civic trust. It's about empowering every active citizen to be a "Benevolent Dictator" for their local civic health – a non-fungible component essential to the overall integrity of our national democratic system.
We are actively seeking like-minded individuals who believe in architecting a more robust and responsive democracy. Your participation is vital to building this resilient future.
I am always open to connecting with fellow citizens, strategists, and system architects who share a commitment to democratic resilience. While The Union is not seeking funding, we are eager for insights, collaboration, and the collective wisdom needed to navigate these challenging times.
